About the School
The Arts Academy Charter School, serving students in grades 5-8, is a free, arts-enriched public school. Academic curriculum will be enriched by classes in dance, figure skating, theater, music, and visual arts.
All students will have artistic instruction as well as their traditional academic instruction.
Curriculum:
The Arts Academy will meet or exceed state academic standards. This will be measured by annual standardized state tests as per state guidelines. Our goal is that every student will succeed in a rigorous academic program. A full year of high school foreign language will be mastered during grades 7 and 8. Initial language offerings will include French and Spanish. Our academic staff will be fully certified.
We will exceed state and national artistic standards. This will be measured by outside experts in the respective artistic areas. Our artistic staff will be fully certified and/or high-quality professionals in their respective fields.
“Arts education is a proven link to academic success. Middle schools, however, tend to be hardest hit when it comes to reducing public school arts offerings.
We are creating an exciting middle school model that will open in the fall of 2012.”
